![]() ![]() The browser must download the image first to get the dimensions of the image, then resize the image appropriately for the screen size, and finally reflow and repaint the page. Yes, you can easily get images to fit the screen with "width=100%" but there are performance hits. The tricky part is having responsive elements render on the page without adversely affecting performance metrics or user experience. Why is it tricky to make elements resize to fit the screen when I can easily do this with the width=100% style? In the following example, we have a flowers image (640 x 427 px) that we want to display on all screen sizes, so we specified the width and height, and set the layout to responsive. Example: Restricting width of responsive images For example, by setting a "max-width" rule on the "body" or "main", you can restrict all images to a specific max width. You can improve how images appear by simply restricting the width of the image's container. By default, elements with layout=responsive will take the full width of the element's container, which is often unrestricted in width (ie., width=100%). A common mistake is to allow an image to take the full width of the screen, which stretches the image beyond its intended size, causing a poor experience for widescreen users. Almost all AMP elements support a responsive layout refer to the element's reference documentation to see which layouts are supported.Įven though you can easily make elements responsive with "layout=responsive", you still must consider how your elements appear on all screen sizes-including desktop and tablet. When you apply the responsive layout to an element, that element will automatically resize to the width of its container element, and the height will change based on the aspect ratio specified by the element's width and height. However, in AMP, you can easily make an element responsive by just specifying the "layout=responsive" attribute along with the element's width and height attributes. Making each element resize to fit a screen can be tricky. See the Changing the art direction of an image section for an example that uses the media attribute. This is particularly useful when you need to either show or hide an element based on a media query. Additionally, for finer control over an AMP element, you can specify the media attribute on the element. In AMP, you can continue to use those same CSS queries. In responsive design, you can use CSS queries to tailor the styling of your web page for various screen dimensions without having to alter the content of the page. Learn about responsive design in AMP from this video. In this guide, we'll show you how you can easily implement these responsive fundamentals in AMP: AMP supports all screen and device categories and provides built-in responsive components. Would you try another book written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman or narrated by Paul Boehmer? Great story but there are issues with narration Just know that it isn’t perfect and enjoy the story. Don’t let the narration comments stop you. If you like stories with dragons, dwarves, elves, magic, and wizards, along with a little humor you should give this a try. I think the books only get better as you read through the series. But I find those by Weis and Hickman to be well written, in a fairly intricate world that is interesting, often suspenseful, surprising, and sometimes even funny. It has always seemed to me that Dragonlance books had a reputation as second rate fantasy, and somewhat juvenile. Still, the vast majority of the book was just fine and what wasn’t perfect didn’t detract from the story, in my opinion. You could argue that it could have been better. It did not prevent me from enjoying the story. It is a little inconsistent, the pace isn’t always appropriate, and there are times when the word emphasized seems completely out of place. We have no relationship with advertisers, products, or services discussed at this website. It is always good practice to double-check when it comes to electrical endeavors.InspectAPedia tolerates no conflicts of interest. With the help of this article, you should also be able to figure out the wire size for any amperes at any distance.īut if any confusion arises, do not hesitate to consult or cross-check with a professional electrician. This article should give you enough idea to choose the perfect wire size for 60 amp sub panel 150 feet away. There is a limit to how many watts a 14-gauge extension cord can handle. Wire gauge can also dictate the specifications of an extension cord. One must thoroughly understand the right wire size and their amperage load-carrying capabilities for this specific purpose.Īs a general rule, wires with greater thickness and larger diameters are better able to manage greater amperage loads because they are better able to limit the additional heat that is produced as a result of the electricity travelling through the cable. ![]() This might cause a fire disaster that could eventually burn your house down. This would be the case if the circuit breaker also failed.Ī wire may also accidentally melt or even burn if it is not designed to sustain a specific amount of amperage. If the connected appliances use more power than the wire is designed to handle and the circuit breaker fails, the insulation could melt due to the heat that is created. To further clarify, a wire’s overall size plays a key role in determining if its fitted conductors can withstand the amperage that will pass through them. Wire sizes are crucial in breakers and sub panels, especially for one reason: ensuring ample safety of the circuitry. How Does the Wire Size Affect the Sub Panel? So it will suffice for the 60-ampere sub panel situated 150 feet away. As a size 3 aluminum wire can handle around 75 amperes to 85 amperes. ![]() The result would not change for aluminum wires. Therefore, the answer that we are able to arrive at is a size 3 wire. However, in regard to the second criterion, given that the distance is 150 feet, the rule of thumb mandates the utilization of a wire that is of a greater thickness. Now, what wire size for 60 amp sub panel 150 feet away?Īccording to the chart that was just presented, one would need a copper wire that is either size 4 or 4 AWG. This is a general rule of thumb that applies to the situation. If the wire length is greater than one hundred meters, then it is required to use a wire size that is one level below (thicker wire) the size that is provided in the table. For example, a size 4 wire is thicker than a size 6 wire.ĭistance is the second aspect that should not be overlooked in this analysis. The greater the thickness of a wire, the lesser rating it has. Wire Gauge Amperage Ratings Chart Current (Amps)Īs can be seen from the above chart, with the increase of amperes of any circuit, so does the thickness of the wire. There is a chart that dictates the wire gauge or AWG (American Wire Gauge for short) for each amperage rating. When the amp rating of the circuit is higher, the required diameter of the wire at its perimeter must also be increased. The amperage rating has a direct impact on the size of the wire. Now let’s talk about the amperage rating, which, in layman’s terms, refers to the quantity of power that the wire will be responsible for carrying. The second factor is the distance between the source and the sub-panel. The amperage rating of the setup or the circuit is the first factor to consider. When choosing a wire size for any electrical installation or configuration, there are two primary factors that should be taken into account.
